Welcome Back to School – Message from the Principal

Dear J.A. Williams School Families,

We hope you’re all enjoying a fantastic summer! While the break isn’t over just yet, we wanted to reach out with some important information and upcoming dates as we gear up for the 2025–2026 school year.

A Special Welcome to Our Grade 9 Families
To all of our new Grade 9 students and their families—welcome! We’re so excited to have you join the JAWS community. We’re confident you’ll find your time here rewarding and memorable. Throughout the year, we’ll keep in touch through School Messenger, so be sure to check your email regularly for updates.

Transportation & Bussing

If your child requires bussing for the 2025–2026 school year, please complete the Transportation Application Form through School Engage in the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
Even if your child rode the bus last year, you must submit a new application to confirm your return.

• Deadline to register: Friday, August 22, 2025

• Route information: Will be shared with families during the week of August 25–29

• Important: No changes will be made to routes during that week or the first week of school.

Late applications (submitted after August 22) will be reviewed based on availability. If no space is available, students may be placed on a waitlist with service beginning the week of September 8.

School Start & Staff Return

Our school building is now open with limited staff. Full staff will return in the final weeks of August as we prepare for what we anticipate will be a fantastic year ahead.

• First day of school for students: Tuesday, September 2, 2025

Grad Banners

To our recent graduates: your grad banners are ready for pickup! They look great, but we need your help to give them a new home.

Student Schedules

Draft schedules have already been created, but final adjustments are still being made to ensure students receive the courses they need in a safe and supportive environment.

If you need to request a schedule change, please ensure your school registration is up to date through School Engage in PowerSchool. This helps us serve you better and more efficiently.

School Supplies

To start the year, please bring the following on the first day:

• A binder

• Lined paper

• Pencils and pens

Teachers will provide any course-specific supply lists on Day 1. We’ve found this approach helps prevent families from buying unnecessary items.
