Description:

  • The award is designed to encourage and recognize students who demonstrate leadership roles in their schools. This award has been created by the Board of Trustees to recognize students that have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities. 

Criteria:

  • Graduate from one of the Northern Lights Public Schools
  • Students must enroll in and attend a post-secondary institution (Post secondary institutions include Universities, Colleges, Technical and Trade Schools. Enrollment in an apprenticeship is regarded as post secondary education.)
  • Demonstrates a high degree of empathy for others, has been involved in a leadership role within their school for a minimum of two years

Lakeland Co-op Scholarship

Lakeland Co-op Scholarship ~ May 15th

Application Opens: February 1st 

Amount: 3 different scholarships of $1000 each 

Description:

  • The award is designed to encourage and recognize students who show stellar achievement in a variety of areas- academic skill, school involvement, commitment to the community and leadership.  

Criteria:

  • Parents/guardian are a current Lakeland Co-op member
  • Students must enroll in and attend a post-secondary institution 
  • Applicants are committed to their studies and education goals
  • Applicants exhibiting leadership at school and within the community

Lakeland Credit Union

Lakeland Credit Union ~ May 19th

Amount: $2500.00

Description: 

  • Candidates may be enrolled in their first year of studies at any recognized and accredited post-secondary institution in Canada to study on a full-time basis. In the case of the Apprenticeship Program, the institution must be accredited and/or a recognized Vocational School. Must be a member of the Lakeland Credit Union

Criteria:

  • Scholarship recipients are based on personal qualities such as: leadership, community volunteerism, school involvement, education and future goals, academic achievement
  • Candidates must supply at least two letters of recommendation, one of which shall be preferably from their school principal, teacher or professor/instructor and the other from a community involvement group leader or an employer, if the applicant has a part-time job or apprenticeship sponsor. Letter must include applicant’s leadership, community/school involvement and future goals. 
  • All candidates must supply an official transcript of all high school credit courses to date and copy of latest apprenticeship report. Statement of marks must be signed by your Career Counsellor, Principal, or Vice Principal. 
  • 500 word submission/ Video or Electronic presentation on : How can Canadian credit unions best maximize the value they provide to students, families and their communities? or  In a perfect world, how would you do your “banking”? Why?  or What are the benefits of the credit union/cooperative business model and how can we effectively share this with others?

Northern Lights ATA Scholarship

Northern Lights ATA Scholarship-May 15th

Criteria:

  • Have attended and completed their grade 12 year in the Northern Lights Public School Division
  • Submit an application form
  • Submit an essay about a Northern Lights Public School teacher that has had a positive impact on your life

Amount: $1000

Description: 

  • MCSnet is offering 4, $1000 local scholarships to graduating grade 12 students that are pursuing post-secondary education in the field of Computer Science or related studies that reside in the MCSnet service area 

Criteria:

  • Applicants must provide a fully completed application form 
  • Official Transcript of Marks
  • Proof of acceptance in college or university program 
  • Short essay outlining goals, volunteer, accomplishments and work experience
